Ellie has recently joined the growing Silverback finance team to support within the accounts payable department. She has a great deal of experience within the hospitality industry and has a wide range of skills and is incredibly keen to develop herself and her role within Silverback.  Ellie has a keen interest in beauty, a sharp sense of humour and a great eye for detail and is very much looking forward to working in the events industry.

What was your experience before becoming a Silverback?

For 5 years I worked as the main point of contact across a number of industries, providing a high level of customer service for various companies. I have always worked in a very busy environment with long shifts Including weekends. I carried out general administration tasks as well as dealing with the public on a daily basis and constant emails/ telephone calls.

What attracted you to join silverback?

The events industry was a completely different industry from what I have worked within before, and with Silverback at the forefront with its sterling reputation, it Intrigued me straight away. I was looking for a new opportunity and Silverback looked like the perfect fit for me to learn new skills whilst bringing my own skills and experience that I knew the team could benefit from.

Describe an average day in your role?

My daily tasks are to invoice all companies 24hrs after a job has finished. Prior to that, I am to check the crew extras or any milage used etc, and finally to ensure the team are paid correctly for each job they attended. I also check that the invoices sent are addressed to the correct company with the correct crew/hours on, so there are absolutely no issues and payment can be made as soon as possible, making the whole process as streamlined as possible.

What do you enjoy about being a member of the Silverback team?

Becoming part of the Silverback team has been brilliant. We are a great team who work together to ensure each person’s role runs a smooth as possible. We can have a laugh but also get the work done which is exactly what you need in a workspace. It has exceeded my expectations and I really couldn’t ask for a better team to work with.

What qualities do you believe it takes to become a Silverback?

To become a Silverback, I feel you need to have good organisation skills with a keen eye for detail. A good sense of humour and the ability to work well in a team are absolute prerequisites. Being confident is also key, especially if you are speaking with clients daily you need to build a good relationship with them.

What advice would you give to someone wishing to pursue a career in the events industry?

GO FOR IT! Believe in yourself and the skills you have, be confident in what you can offer to your next team and they will see the potential in you, it starts with you! Be prepared to be busy, it comes with the territory so your organisation skills need to be spot on.
